Are the classes taught in Mathventures aligned with the MOE syllabus? Our lesson materials (i.e., class notes, worksheets, etc.,) are made to assist with your child’s school and examinations needs. Class quality is of paramount importance for Mathventures, and we constantly listen to feedback from our students on their understanding in lessons to adjust to their learning styles and improve class quality. Lesson materials are also continually updated as we monitor trends in MOE schools, their examination papers, and national exams.

What is Mathventures curriculum and style of teaching?Mathventures lesson materials are all crafted to help our students achieve a few key outcomes including: - Building a strong foundational knowledge of each topic - through investigative examples (inquiry-based learning) and class examples (guided learning); - Internalising the concepts learnt in each class for long term retention - through selected practice questions; - Summary assessments to evaluate student’s understanding - through class practices given at the end of classes; - Peer teaching to encourage active learning and sense of responsibility - through time allocated in class for students to explain concepts learnt in class to their peers; and - Extended critical thinking - through difficult questions typically only tested in MOE schools to broaden student’s ability to problem solve.
-
Will the curriculum be challenging enough / too challenging for my child?- Mathventures lessons are structured into two parts. - Normal term lessons: typically Week 1 to Week 6 lessons are structured for effective learning of topics that includes a mix of question difficulties to build foundational knowledge with the easier questions and encourage critical thinking for the challenging questions. These lessons better replicate the format of an examination paper which comprises of questions with mixed difficulties arranged at random. This portion of lessons are more general in nature and can be easy enough to understand for weaker students, but also challenging enough for more advanced students. - Pre-examination preparation: typically Week 7 and 8 lessons are structured to include challenging questions to develop problem solving skills for non-routine questions and questions with high marks allocated. This portion will typically be more challenging for weaker students to follow, which is why we have our 24/7 support to assist your child should they require more guidance.
-
How can I receive feedback about my child’s progress from Mathventures?Mathventures communicates regularly with parents through a few channels. Firstly, after lessons, the teachers will be around should parents have enquiries. Secondly, parents can schedule a zoom meeting / phone call through the website for a more detailed conversation about student progress. Lastly, we also have progress reports which will be sent to parents through email at the end of each semester (semi-annually).
-
Replacement class policy and public holidays- We will replace a maximum of three classes per term for any reasons. Details of the replacement lessons will be sent to parents two weeks prior.
